In 1966 Jane and Felix Pinto created Micato Safaris to introduce discerning travelers to the beauty and wildlife of the African continent their family has called home for over a century. Today, their son Dennis manages the family business and still adheres to Jane and Felix's philosophy of treating each guest like a member of the family. The Pinto family's long ties to the regions they visit, gives guests the feeling they are visiting friends in Africa, rather than participating in an organized tour. In fact, the Pintos host each Micato group in their home on Lavington Hill, overlooking Nairobi, with cocktails, dinner and East African lore and legends. It is also important to the Pintos to help preserve the fragile ecosystem of the East African plains. They educate their guests on conservation issues and give back value to the land and its remarkable people through AmericaShare, Micato's non-profit foundation. This organization, whose administrative costs are fully-funded by Micato, supports thousands of orphans year-round with food, clothing, boarding school and medical supplies, and helps implement local environmental and educational initiatives.
