Who We Are:
Founded in 1965, by Paul Petzoldt, legendary mountaineer and outdoorsman, NOLS provides unique education in outdoor skills, leadership and environmental studies. NOLS is a non-profit school that continues to lead the way in wilderness education worldwide, training students, leaders and educators. NOLS's mission is to be the leading source and teacher of wilderness skills and leadership that serves people and the environment. NOLS offers college credit programs and skills seminars in adventures such as mountaineering and rock climbing, whitewater expeditions, horsepacking, skiing and backpacking. Wilderness ethics are an important part of the NOLS curriculum. Students learn about natural history, ecology, land management topics and wildlife in areas they travel.

Where We Go:
Students explore remote wilderness on extended expeditions to select destinations in the Americas, India, Australia and New Zealand.

How Long We Go For:
Programs range in length from two to 12 weeks, with the format designed for the preferences of each group. College credit (4 - 19 hours) and financial aid are available for most NOLS courses.

When We Leave:
Dates are set according to the type of adventure and the time of year.
